
Wests Wood Fair 2026

Hamble and Hound Gundog Club providing gundog displays twice a day. On the Saturday & Sunday they will also be running a dog scurry, whether your dog is a seasoned pro or has never done it before, they are welcome to have a go.
There will be our chainsaw race on the Saturday & Sunday and pole climbing demonstrations across all 3 days. Joining us again on Saturday & Sunday will be The Dorset Axemen, who’s displays contain all aspects of speed and accuracy chopping and crosscut sawing with razor sharp axes and saws.

Joining us again are the British Lawnmower Racing Association who will be running lawnmower racing on the Saturday & Sunday.
hot air balloons, from the Surrey & Sussex Balloon Group, taking off from the wood fair both early mornings & early evenings.
Our Kids Corner will be returning featuring den building, mud kitchens, games, face painting, storytime a couple of times a day, paint your own totem pole & plant your own flower.

We will have heavy horses pulling our wooden pole-waggon and putting on logging demonstrations and our tractor & trailer ride will of course be available taking you into the depths of the forest. Plus our newer activities, like crazy croquet and I’m a lumberjack get me out of here are returning.
We’ll be running the Sussex Scrumpy Stakes again on Saturday & Sunday, which is a free entry competition. Participants have to drink a glass of scrumpy, before running down the hill, do some apple bobbing, down a shot, then the winning contestant is the one who finds the golden apple in a trailer full of sawdust, and walks away with a prize of £100.

There will be lots of other activities to take part in, such as axe-throwing and archery, or you could try your hand at the timber identification competition or hammer in the nail challenge, both of which are free to enter. Plus the log roll will be available, which is always popular with the kids.
There will be the steam engine powering a saw mill, some vintage tractors and other steam engines & lorries. And we will be bringing some our our showroom products down into the field.
Our chainsaw carving competition will run over all 3 days, and once again on Sunday the public will be able to vote for the winner, see the chainsaw carving competition page for previous results and the winning pieces. And we’re hoping to hold an auction end of the day Sunday where you’ll have the chance to win some of the carvings.
There will be a wide range of food and drink available. The Woodturner’s Rest (our specially built pub) will once again be opening it’s doors and serving a selection of locally produced real ales. And there will be live music going on throughout the weekend.
