Fun-filled Foraging Easter Egg Hunt

Fri, Apr 3

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Cowdray Cafe, Easebourne, West Sussex, GU29 0AJ

This egg hunt with a twist will take families along a wonderful scenic route around the Cowdray Ruins and River Rother to learn the land and forage easter treats from tall grasses and trees to connect with nature and the landscape. Led by our Estate Forager George Linklater, guests will be guided to special spots along the route where small eggs have been squirrelled away for kids to find. Each spot has been carefully picked so children of all ages can learn a little of the land to help them find their foraged easter treats.

Each child will find 3 medium and 4 small chocolate eggs (will contain milk and nuts [trace]).

The Foraging Easter Egg Hunt will start at Cowdray Farm Shop & Café Car Park.

Children of all ages are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult. Child tickets available for purchase below, adults supervising do not need a ticket.

Meet George, Cowdray’s Forager:

George has been foraging and using wild foods for some years, supplying the freshest foraged wild edibles to some of the country’s top restaurants, chefs and food establishments.

After years of being immersed in the ‘wild’ himself, George now focuses on encouraging others to appreciate the significance of our native countryside, and how we can enjoy and protect it for future generations. Over his years of foraging George has accrued an in-depth knowledge of our countryside, its diverse habitats and the variety of plants and fungi each contains. He has covered the length and breadth of the country from the Scottish Highlands to the moors and coasts of Cornwall, in search of new native edibles as well as sustainable sources to pick them. Working closely with chefs consulting on what, when and how to use each ingredient to best showcase them has led George to be featured on programmes like BBC’s Saturday Kitchen, following the journey from the forests and fields to fork. George now hopes to inspire you on your own adventure of discovery.
