SUMMARY:M&E vs Seaford Town: Midhurst & Easebourne FC "THE STAGS" Home Game
DESCRIPTION:The club has 2 senior teams and 8 youth teams. The First Team are currently members of the Southern Combination Football League and compete in Premier Division \, whilst the Reserves play in the Premier Division of the Hampshire Development League. \nThe club was established in 1946 by a merger of Midhurst\, whose ground had been used to build a school on\, and Easebourne\, who had lost several officials and players during the World War II. \nThey joined the West Sussex League and went on to win the title in 1955–56\, 1962–63 and 1964–65\, as well as the Malcolm Simmonds Memorial Cup in 1959–60. After the top division was renamed the Premier Division\, the club won the league again in 1967–68\, the Bareham Cup in 1970–71 and the Malcolm Simmonds Memorial Cup in 1973–74. They won the Premier Division and Malcolm Simmonds Memorial Cup double in 1976–77 and retained the cup the following season\, before winning another league and cup double in 1979–80. Although an application to join the Sussex County League was rejected in 1980\, they were accepted into the league the following year\, becoming members of Division Two. \nIn their first season in Division Two\, Midhurst & Easebourne were runners-up\, earning promotion to Division One. The club finished bottom of Division One in 1986–87 and were relegated back to Division Two. They won the Division Two Cup in 1988–89\, beating Newhaven 5–3 on penalties in a replay. The club returned to Division One after finishing second in 1991–92\, but were relegated back to Division Two at the end of the following season. A second successive relegation in 1993–94 saw them drop into Division Three. Although they won Division Three at the first attempt\, the club were relegated back to the division at the end of the 1997–98 season. \nIn 1998–99 Midhurst & Easebourne finished bottom of Division Three and were relegated to the Premier Division of the West Sussex League. They were Premier Division champions and Centenary Cup winners in 2001–02 and were promoted back to Division Three of the Sussex County League. The following season saw them win the Division Three title and the Division Three Cup\, earning promotion to Division Two. Although they finished bottom of Division Two in 2009–10\, the club avoided being relegated to Division Three. In 2015 the Sussex County League was renamed the Southern Combination\, with Division Two becoming Division One. Midway through the 2018-19 season\, the club found themselves bottom of Division One and appointed Liphook United Manager\, Andrew ‘Lemmy’ Ewen as First Team Manager\, who subsequently saved the club from relegation to Division Two. The 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons were both ended early and deemed null and void due to COVID-19\, with the club sitting 6th and 4th in respective seasons. \nThe 2021-22 saw a return of success to the club. With the first tema winning promotion to the premier division via the playoffs and also winning the league cup. A real triumph for Lemmy and his team after having the two previous seasons curtailed when in strong positions. The reserve team also enjoyed success with a second place finish\, securing promotion to their respective premier division. \nWith last seasons achievements\, and subsequent promotion to step 5 football we now find ourselves competing in the Fa Cup for the first time in our history. 2022-23 is sure to be an exciting historical season for everyone involved in the club and town.

SUMMARY:Wassailing Day @ Weald & Downland Living Museum
DESCRIPTION:Winter Wassailing at the Museum – Sunday\, 18 January\nCome and bless the Museum’s orchard and celebrate this joyful winter tradition of Wassailing! Join us on Sunday\, 18 January for a lively day of music\, song\, and celebration\, as we raise our voices to ensure a bountiful apple harvest in the year ahead. \nBetween 11.15am and 3.15pm\, visitors can enjoy traditional Wassail activities\, short performances\, and musical processions throughout the day. \n  \nJoin the Procession\nTake part in a festive Wassail procession starting from the green by the crossroads below Tindalls Cottage. Led by musicians and performers\, each group will travel to the orchard at Bayleaf Farmstead for the Wassail ceremony. \nProcession times: 11.15am · 1.00pm · 2.45pm\n(Duration approx. 30 minutes) \nIn the orchard\, we’ll decorate an apple tree and take part in the traditional blessing ceremony\, using bread\, salt\, and mulled apple juice. Guests are invited to shout the age-old call of “Wassail!” and make as much noise as possible to chase away evil spirits and bring good health to the orchard. \nBring something to make noise!\nRattles\, bells\, tin cans or whistles — anything that adds to the merry clamour! \n  \nAlso\, as part of our Wassailing celebrations\, our interpretation team will be at home in the Bayleaf Farmhouse\, where the Wassail procession will knock on the door to share the Wassail drink in celebration before moving onto the Museum orchard. \nAt the end of the procession\, our team will then be inviting visitors to come into the Bayleaf Farmhouse and join them around the fire for an immersive atmosphere. The team will be enjoying their own wassail celebration\, where you can sit and chat with them and ask questions around the celebration and day to day life in the 16th century. \n  \nA Fun\, Family-Friendly Celebration\nThis event is perfect for families\, music lovers\, and anyone who enjoys experiencing living history and English folklore. Children must be accompanied by an adult\, and we recommend warm clothing and sturdy footwear. \nDetails of the day’s activities will be available in the daily programme on arrival. \n  \nAbout Wassailing\nThe word “Wassail” comes from the Saxon “Waes Hael”\, meaning “Good Health”. Traditionally\, it was both a toast and a blessing — the giver would say “Waes Hael!” and the receiver would reply “Drink Hael!” \nIn centuries past\, when a good harvest was vital to survival\, communities developed rituals to bless crops\, animals\, and the land. Wassailing the apple trees became especially popular in the cider-making regions of southern England\, including Sussex and Kent\, as a way to ensure a plentiful apple crop. \nDuring the ceremony\, people would: \n\nSing and toast the health of the orchard\nOffer bread soaked in cider to the spirits of the trees\nMake loud noises — banging pots\, firing guns\, and shouting — to scare away bad spirits\n\nKnown in Sussex and Kent as “Apple Howling” or “Apple Yowling”\, this ancient custom continues today as a joyous community event\, blending music\, folklore\, and rural tradition. \nBook now  \n\n\n\nInformation for Visitors\nDiscover 40 acres of history\, nature\, and countryside charm at the Weald & Downland Living Museum near Chichester\, West Sussex. Explore our collection of historic buildings\, working farm animals\, and heritage gardens\, and experience what rural life was like in centuries past. \nCome Rain or Shine You Can Explore and Enjoy \nStroll through our beautiful open-air museum\, where you can see authentic period homes\, workshops\, and barns set within the stunning South Downs landscape. Enjoy peaceful woodland walks\, spot wildlife\, or visit the woodland play area — perfect for children to explore and learn through play. \nMeet Our Working Animals \nLook out for our Heavy Horses\, Sheep\, and Ducks\, who help bring the Museum to life. SUMMARY:M&E vs Peacehaven & Tels: Midhurst & Easebourne FC "THE STAGS" Home Game
