The Midhurst Museum, possibly the smallest museum in the world, opened its doors in Knockhundred Market, Midhurst in December 2011 at the Christmas Street Party. At 8’ 6’’ by 8’ 6’’ space is limited so we change the theme of the display in the Museum every month.

New displays every month

The Midhurst-related displays are drawn from the impressive  collections of the current Rudwick Brothers, well known locally for their detailed talks about Midhurst and their efforts to preserve records of the area. They may have started with coins and stamps but a quick check on the number of “collections” Dave and Tim had accumulated made clear there were enough to furnish the museum for at least three years without a repeat.

Our themes are intended to represent a local flavour and are to inform and advise our visitors about what life was like in the period displayed or to commemorate notable events and anniversaries. Future themes include equestrianism, Georgian Midhurst, Midhurst Memories and the emergency services.

The Museum is run entirely by volunteers who offer their time and expertise for the love of being involved!
